Visit Punakha Dzong at the confluence of two rivers, then continue east through changing landscapes toward Trongsa. En route, enjoy viewpoints and small villages scattered along the road.
Explore Trongsa Dzong, historically the seat of Bhutan’s royal family, before driving to Bumthang. As you enter central Bhutan, the valleys widen and the atmosphere becomes quieter and more contemplative.
Spend the day visiting some of Bhutan’s most revered temples and monasteries, such as Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Tamshing. Walk between villages and enjoy the gentle rhythm of rural life.
Begin the journey back west, retracing the scenic mountain roads. Stop at viewpoints and small towns along the way, arriving in Punakha or Wangdue for the night.
Drive back to Paro, with time in the afternoon to explore the town, visit local handicraft shops, or relax at your hotel.
Hike to the iconic Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched on a cliff high above the Paro valley. After descending, transfer to the airport for your onward flight, carrying with you the calm and depth of central Bhutan.
